All the professional bus or coach drivers are required to hold a valid Driver CPC/Driver Qualification Card, or CPC card.

If you are driver of a bus or coach, you must have the full driver CPC. Usually you should pass 4 tests to get the PCV Driver CPC unless you posses acquired rights due to your current driving experience. At CPC Manchester, we offer a driver CPC for PSV/PCV vehicles. We have an approved trainer could assist you with your mandatory training.

There are two types of Driver CPC training:

The driver CPC periodic training is for the professional drivers who drive a bus or coach and already have a DQC Card.

The driver CPC initial trainingis for the new professional drivers who want to driver a bus and coach and don’t have a DQC card as yet.

The Existing Professional Drivers and the driver who already have a Driver Qualification Card (Driver CPC Card) have to complete 35 hours of Periodic Driver CPC Training and that too, in 5-yearly cycles consistent with CPC renewal. This training should continue until the driver does not wish to professionally drive the category C or D vehicles.

Getting Full Driver CPC

If you wish to drive in certain situations like taking the vehicle for the pre-booked annual test (MOT) or don’t for drive for a living but continue it as a hobby or carry goods or passengers from one place to another non-commercially.

But, you will need to pass the part 1 and 3 which is the theory and the driving ability tests of the qualification.

Keeping the Full Driver CPC

Here is how you keep the full driver CPC

  • Apply for a provisional bus or coach license.
  • The driver CPC consists of 4 tests and you need to pass these tests to qualify.
  • Make sure that you take 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years to remain qualified. You will have to renew you bus or coach license every 5 years and then every year when you reach the age of 65.

Which of the CPC training is best for you?

If you already possess a PCV license and cleared your test before September 2008, or if you happen to have an HGV (heavy goods vehicle) license and passed the test before September 2009, or if you have a  C1 category and passed before 1997 then you should enroll yourself in Periodic Driver CPC training.[/vc_column_text][minti_image img=”15569″ align=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][minti_iconbox icon=”fa-check” title=”Mobile Driver CPC”]A profesional RTITB trainer will attend your office to train your drivers with minimal disruption.
